This session is for surveillance technicians who have setup and configured camera networks and VMS applications before and are responsible for trouble-shooting issues in these networks. Attendees should be familiar with the tasks and terms of VMS, server, camera and networking configuration.
Problems in video surveillance networks are some of the more challenging issues to resolve. In this hands-on session, users will gain a rich understanding of the kinds of issues affecting video surveillance networks as well as a methodology for getting to root cause. Issues can range from inadequate design, misconfiguration, and system decay. Session instructors will review the life-cycle of problems from awareness to resolution with a focus on the diagnostic phase and hypotheses generation and triage. Participants will practice this methodology against a set of real-world failure scenarios that require systematic, data-driven methods for diagnosing effectively.

Learning Outcomes:
1. Determine issues affecting surveillance networks.
2. Practice efficient measurement and monitors that are important for maintaining surveillance networks.
3. Gain a methodology and techniques for diagnosing common troublesome problems in surveillance networks.
