You’ve Been Sued Now What? Case Studies of Forensic Liability

November 21, 2019, 10:15 AM - 11:00 AM

Theater 2

This presentation takes attendees behind the scenes of major litigation cases and claims where burglary, fire, carbon monoxide, serious personal injury, and death have occurred, and it has been alleged that the alarm company and/or the central station was a significant proximate cause of the damages sustained. Attendees will be able to follow the fact pattern in each of the cases presented. They will learn about each of the allegations made by the plaintiff, the defendants, their answers and defenses, what went wrong, what went right, what, if anything could have changed the outcome of the loss, and ultimately how the court or the jury ruled. Recognizing the risks in these actual cases and claims will help the attendee lower their loss potential and create best practices to help limit their liability.

Learning Outcomes:
1. Learn advanced methods to help minimize liability.
2. Create best practices to enhance training of sales professionals, installers and technicians.
3. Proactively identify deviations of UL Standards, NFPA Standards and Best Practices.
