Generation Z: Who Are They and How Are They Changing the Security Field?

Generation Z: Who Are They and How Are They Changing the Security Field?

November 20, 2019, 10:15 AM - 11:00 AM

Main Stage

Born between 1996 and 2011, Generation Z outnumbers the Millennials at 60 million- strong and is expected to push boundaries to the extreme and drastically change workplaces. Our Young Professionals Council will describe what security organizations need to know about Generation Z, provide strategies for engaging them in security programs and organizations, and expose challenges and opportunities for successful integration. Generation Z is an unusual amalgamation of the generations before it, with a keen focus on managing their professional and personal brands. They bring the frugality of the Builder Generation, true digital native status of the Millennials, an urge to create a stable life similar to Baby Boomers, and the pragmatism of Gen Xers.

Learning Outcomes:
1. Engage and retain more Gen Z in their organizations by examining what has and has not worked in other sectors and by reviewing the empirical data presented.
2. Dispel misconceptions, through the simulation, of the world’s most educated, tech savvy, and controversial generation and better understand how to communicate across generations.
